Why did this trademark bear such a name? There's a certain explanation for that.
The sable fell had always been of a great value and could even substitute money. The strongest demand was for a darkish fur with the grey hair.
England was the key market for it. (Если мне кто-нибудь внятно объяснит, что такое шеффилдские изделия и с чем их едят, то переведу и это предложение). Mrs. Rigel, Sutherland, Tornton, Atkins and Duseberry were the core customers of t Demidov's iron.
The Parliament roof was covered by Demidov's iron in 1820.
Later on foreigners initiated the trademark's fabrication. The English manufacturers put the "Old sable" trademark on the cheaper England-made iron.
The Eifel Tower is made of the Urals cast iron and the Statue of Liberty is covered by Nizhniy Tagil copper.

Можно, например, перед каждой фамилией написать Mr. Чем не вариант?

На полную корректность не претендую. Фамилии англичан переводить туда-сюда - вообще задача невыполнимая, надо знать оригинальное написание. Однако, перевод, предлагавшийся предыдущими ораторами (до Алисы_29), - не для слабонервных англичан. ;-)
